Altair is a white star in the Eagle contellation (Aquila, boreal hemisphere constellation). It is actually the main star of the constellation (the brightest one). Its apparent magnitude is 0.89 and its real magnitude is 0.77.

It is one of the nearest stars from our solar system. Indeed, it is less than seventeen light-years away from Earth. In arabic, Altair means flying bird.
