Apophis' queen is called Amaunet. She chose Sha'uri to be her host. Jolinar of Malkshur knew where she was, but had not time to reveal it to Daniel before she died. However, at that moment, Amaunet remained dormant, because Sha'uri was pregnant from Apophis, and the awakening of the symbiote might have caused the child to be stillbirth.

Amaunet was killed while she was herself trying to kill Daniel with the ribbon device. The injury was too serious to save Sha'uri. However, she succeeded in using the beam to transmit a message to Daniel, asking him to find the child.

Amaunet's hold over Sha'uri is questionable: when Apophis came to Abydos to get her and her child, she saw Daniel and Teal'c, and though she was with her Pharaoh and Jaffa, did not reveal their position.

Furthermore, she seems to be the only Goa'uld to have some human feelings: she tried to protect the human child her host had carried. To reach this goal, she took several Abydonians, so that Heru'ur would not know her true goal. She then sent the child with her closest aide into hiding on Kheb.
