Athos is the first planet the Atlantis expedition visited: colonel Sumner and some of his men went there to try to find energy in order to supply Atlantis' shield. There, they met teyla and her people, who told them about the Wraith.

There is on Athos an old city of the Ancients, but we do not know what is in there, because the Athosians were afraid that going into it might make the Wraith coming, and Sumner's team had not the time to explore it. There also are caves where the Athosians used to hide when teh Wraith attacked. On the walls of these caves are drawn the periodic attacks.

The Athosians live in camps, soi that they can easily move and make it harder for the Wraith to find them, but they headed to Atlantis when darts destroyed their last encampment.
